Melba Ruth Cox, 85, passed away on February 2, 2018 at Wellbrooke of Carmel, Indiana. She was born on July 7, 1932 in Kokomo, Indiana to Floyd and Melba Minnie (Hardin) Randall.
Ruth grew up in Westfield, Indiana. She graduated from Westfield High School in 1950 where she was the high school marching band majorette. After high school she did secretarial work.
Ruth married Stephen Riley Cox in 1951 in Noblesville, Indiana. They were happily married for nearly 60 years. She and Steve lived in San Rafael, California and Denver, Colorado during Steve’s service in the Air Force. After returning to Indiana they located permanently in Carmel to raise their family. They attended Carmel and Westfield Friends Churches. Ruth retired from Indiana Mills Inc. in 1994. She loved her family and enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Steve in 2010, and by her sister Betty (Randall) Grimes in 2000. She is survived by her daughter Jan (Wayne) Norlin of Grand Rapids, Michigan; son Eric (Debbie) Cox of Westfield; daughter Kim Cox of Carmel; sister Evelyn Roudebush of Carmel; sister Catherine Dillman of Carmel; grandchildren Geoff, Jennifer, Jessica, Sarah, Laura, Justin, Jill, Joanna, Aaron, Anthony, Jordan, Randy; and 17 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, at 11:00am to 1:00pm on February 6th, followed by a memorial service in the same location at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.

Just recently heard of Ruth’s passing in 2018. She wAs my first babysitter when I was a little boy many years ago. What a nice lady and I always thought she was so pretty.
